Peewee Grey Seahawks Open Their Season
The Peewee Grey Seahawks opened their season with a back to back home and away game.  Season start "jitters" and Mother Nature played a role in the game results which were a far cry from what this group of players wanted.

Game 1, vs Clinton was both Goderich's season and home opener. The Seahawks started with a strong pitching display which, along with the fielding squad allowed only two runs in the 1st inning.  Unfortunately, the Peewees could not answer back but after 3 innings, the score showed only 3-0 for Clinton.  The fourth inning brought a strong offensive run from the opposition, with the inning ending at the 6 run limit. Again the Seahawks tried to mount a return of their own, but it was not meant to be.  As the final Goderich pitches flew through the strike zone, Mother Nature decided to throw a curve ball of her own and opened the skies on both teams, effectively ending the game.
Game 2 saw the Goderich Seahawks travel to St Marys.  Under cold, grey, rainy skies, the squad took to the field and improved on their previous night's outting by posting 2 runs at the top of the inning. The constant weather conditions did not seem to dampen the spirit of the team at first, but seemed to take its toll later in the game with some shivers and player "time checks".  Unfortunately, a consistent St Marys squad, appeared to be unphased by the weather or Seahawks, and came out of their gate with a 6 run rally of their own to end the first inning and a repeat in the 3rd. The Goderich squad showed their will, as the game continued, and managed to post a couple more runs but it was not enough to catch their opponents. Game final was 14-4 for St Marys.
Despite the teams opening week, the coaching staff is very proud of the way that this squad held its head high, had some laughs, and showed the upmost in good spirits and sportsmanship.  This team has already shown its depth and skills and is ready to break out in full force.  With a few games under their belts and the jitters gone, the Seahawks are heading into a practice set this week, and finishing with a game in Ilderton.
