L'il Deckhand Seahawks Edge Fullarton
The Squirt girls fastball team faced a lot of adversity on June 1st at Ag Park when one of their veteran team mates, Ava F., was injured during the game. Leading 8-5 at the time of the injury, the locals fell behind 9-8 before heading into the dugout for their final at bat of the game.
Visibly concerned for their friend and team mate, this group of young ball players came together and regrouped before taking their final swings of the game. The last inning rally began when the underage leadoff hitter, Jamie A., clubbed a triple to deep left field putting the tying run 55 feet from home with none out. The next batter, Jillian H., worked the Fullarton pitcher deep into the count allowing Jamie A. to score from third to tie the game. With one out, and the game tied, the stage was set for Zoe M. to help her team. Zoe wasted no time at the plate as she promptly crushed a Fullarton pitch to deep left centre field for her 1st career walk off home run giving the L'il Deckhands a very emotional 10-9 victory.
The Seahawks were anchored all game by a very good complete game pitching performance by Payton S.
