L'il Deckhand Seahawks Thrill Huge Crowd
The Squirt Girls 2015 edition will not win every game they play, but, they will excite those fans that venture to the fastball diamond to take in a game

The L'il Deckhand Seahawks were well prepared by Coaches Niki and Rhonda in their pre game, and, the players responded right off the first pitch playing solid defence before plating six runs in the bottom of the inning. The locals were led on the mound by the veteran windmiller Payton S. who pitched fabulously striking out 5 Exeter batters while only issuing 4 walks. At the plate, Katie R. let loose with a 3 hit night. Zoe M. continued to show that this is a break out year with 2 hit performance scoring 3 runs, and, making a great throw out from third to first. In the bottom of the 2nd inning, Ava F., made an incredible backhand fielding play on a hard hit grounder to shut down an Exeter rally. The much improving play of the Seahawk outfield was clearly evident with great hustle and energy from Kate J., Jillian H., and, Audrey C. who continually minimized the damage done by some very good Exeter batters.
The home side held on to a narrow 12-9 lead heading into the final "open" inning. The visitors came out swinging, and, had some well placed hits that just squeaked out of reach of the tenacious fielding of Jamie A., Grace T., and, Emily H. Several close plays at home kept starting catcher, Jordyn H., quite busy in the final inning.
Trailing by 5, the Squirts kept on cheering, determined to repeat a similar come from behind scene from their last home game. When lead off hitter, Megan K., crossed the plate with the 4th Seahawk run of the inning, the fans were in a frenzy as Goderich had the bases loaded. On the very next play, the pitcher made a nice fielding play to force the third out sending the visitors home to Exeter with a hard fought 17-16 win.
