CULBERT BANTAMS STRIKE GOLD IN EXETER!!!
The U16 Culbert Surveying Girls Fastball Seahawks competed in the Exeter Extreme Fastball Tournament over the Fathers Day weekend. The locals ran the table during the weekend outscoring their four opponents 56-12 in the process. The Culbert Crew combined their explosive hitting with fabulous pitching, and solid defensive fielding throughout the weekend.

SEAHAWKS 18 VS. WYOMING 7
On Friday, June 14th, Goderich opened the tournament versus an unknown Wyoming club. Payton S was on the bump for the Seahawks scattering 3 hits over her three innings of work for the easy victory. At the plate, Grace T had a massive night going 4 for 4 with 5 RBIs to lead the way. Other big producers were Bella M, Zoe M, and Katie R who each had 3 RBI evenings. Janelle D came in to pitch a couple of relief innings doing a fine job of spot relief on short notice.

SEAHAWKS 10 VS. FULLARTON 2
The next day, the Seahawks had a real test versus a Fullarton club that had a tough pitcher. Goderich had an ace up their own sleeve as fireballer Alexa H took the mound for the Seahawks. Goderich had trouble early in this one as they never registered a hit over the first three innings. Alexa H was dynamite over her five innings of work only allowing 3 hits while fanning 10 Fullarton batters. Trailing 1-0 in the fourth, Emily H drew a lead off walk. Katie R, Abby A, Grace T, and Jaimy L all contributed RBIs as the locals took a 4-1 lead. Fullarton made things interesting in the top of the fifth when they made it a two run game with a runner on third, but Alexa H ended the threat with a strikeout. Goderich then scored six runs in their bottom half to finish off Fullarton with the mercy rule victory.

SEAHAWKS 10 VS. LONDESBOROUGH 1
The evening contest saw a battle of pool play undefeated teams with the winner earning a berth in the A Championship the next morning. The Seahawks put a lot of pressure on the Legends with their bats early in this one as Grace T, Alexa H, Emily H, Katie R, and Ava F all scored.
Payton S was back on the mound for Goderich, and the Sneaky Quick righty tossed a gem no-hitting the Legends in the process. Payton S struck out 9 with the only run coming of one of Goderichs two errors in the game. Goderich made it a nine run lead in the third by scoring four more courtesy of a well placed double by Zoe M. Alexa H scored three times to help her pitching partner to the easy victory. Katie R had a solid 3 for 3 evening at the plate driving in a pair of runs.

SEAHAWKS 18 VS. DORCHESTER 2
In the Championship game, Dorchester came out swinging their bats scoring their two runs off of Goderich starter Alexa H testing the theory that you have to get to a good pitcher early if you want to have a chance to beat them. Alexa H, however, had other plans as that is all the D-backs would get on this day. In fact, Dorchester only managed to muster their only 2 hits in that first inning.
Goderich hitters were not going to be denied, and made up the deficit in a hurry by scoring four in the first. Grace T led off with a home run. Janelle D then dropped a fabulous bunt setting the stage for Emily H, Katie R, and Zoe M RBIs. Bella M was driven home in the second inning courtesy of a Payton S base hit. The Seahawks belted out 13 more runs over the next two innings to complete their fourth consecutive mercy rule victory in this tournament. Bella M, Emily H, and Katie R had three hit games while Kate J, and Abby A had two hits apiece. Defensively, the Culbert Crew received some solid play from Janelle D in centre field, and Ava F made a tremendous put out at first from the catcher position on a good Dorchester bunt.
