The executive of Goderich Minor Baseball hopes that everyone is staying safe and healthy. Although the 2020 ball season was cancelled due to COVID, it is the intention of the GMBA executive to run baseball and girl’s fastball programming for the 2021 season.
With the changing conditions from COVID, it is difficult to determine at this time what format the 2021 season will have, but we are planning for several options such as:
1) a typical/normal season
2) a modified season which may include games with nearby towns in a “bubble”.
3) a locally based “house league” format.
4) local practice and/or skills sessions.
Baseball Ontario has COVID protocols in place for these scenarios as well.
Our online registration for the 2021 season will go live January 1, 2021 and will run until February 28th, 2021.
Please follow the registration link on our webpage. There will be no in person registration this year.
If you have a participant for the 2021 season, please register online after January 1st. It is important the executive has the registration numbers early, so we can plan accordingly. No registration fees will be collected at the time of registration, since the format of the season is unknown, hence registration costs cannot be accurately determined at this time. Once the season format is known, registration fees will be determined and communicated to all Seahawk families at that time and collected via paypal. At that time, if you wish to withdraw your registration you may do so without penalty.
Once you have paid and if COVID conditions change prior to the start of the season and then decide you no longer want to play ball, you can have a full refund. We understand changing COVID conditions in the community can change people’s decisions. The registration form will also include fields for coaches, managers, volunteers to record their willingness to volunteer for the 2021 season.
Given the COVID protocols in place from Baseball Ontario, more volunteers than normal will be required for the 2021 season, so please consider volunteering.
