Double-Header @ Listowel July 29
Tuesday July 29 Goderich travelled to Listowel to take on what is widely considered the best team in the league.  Coming off an undefeated, Championship winning weekend at the John O'Keefe Memorial Tournament in Goderich, Listowel was on a roll and looking to notch two more wins versus Goderich to wrap up first place in the league.  Little did they realize, the Seahawks were pumped with adrenaline from their third place win on the weekend and ready to show Listowel that Goderich should also be considered one of the top teams in this league and can compete with anyone who steps onto the field with them.

The Seahawks started the first game by scoring two runs in the first, five in the second and six in the third, showing Listowel that they were here and ready to play some baseball.  Along with the strong offense, Goderich played some very good defense shutting Listowel down for the first two innings and headed into the bottom of the third winning 13-0.  Listowel was able to bring across five runs in their half of the third which gave a 13-5 score after three innings of play...Listowel was absolutely stunned at this point in the game.  In the fourth inning Goderich came out and scored three more runs, then their defense came out and held Listowel to just one run.  Since the teams were playing a double-header, they would be playing two, five inning games.  With Goderich up 16-6 after four innings, making it impossible for Listowel to come back due to the league rule of seven run maximum per inning, the game was stopped with Goderich winning 16-6, handing a very crushing and eye opening loss to the hometown Listowel team.  This was a great game for the Goderich fans to watch and see the Seahawks show just what they can do.  The team showed that defense can and will win games along with some hitting.

Leading the way on offense was Owen S with a bases loaded triple, two singles and five rbi, Graham with a double, two singles, three rbi and two runs, Kaelan with three singles, three runs and an rbi, and John with three singles and two runs.  Camron had a double, a single, five rbi and two runs, Kellen had a double, a single, an rbi and a run, Mitchell had two singles with three runs scored, Iain had two singles with two runs scored and Aaron had two singles with an rbi.  Ty added in a single with a run scored and Zach had a single.

The second game had a different outcome from the first as Listowel came out fired up and controlled from start to finished as it would end with a 25-5 score.  The offense this game for Goderich came from Aaron with three singles and an rbi, Owen S with a double, single, two runs and an rbi, Kaelan with a double and a single, Zach with two singles and an rbi, Ty with two singles and a run and Mitchell had two singles.  Kellen had a single with two rbi, Iain and Graham each had a single with a run scored and John added in a single.

Goderich should be very proud of themselves after splitting this double-header with Listowel.  Listowel coaches after the games spoke very highly of how Goderich played and admitted that Goderich is a team to watch out for.  Goderich is very quickly gaining a lot of respect from some of the top teams in the league as this team comes together game by game and is getting stronger and stronger.  With only two more games left in the season and two more practices before the League Championships, this is the time for the Seahawks to buckle down and do everything they've been working on throughout the year.  If this team plays strong defense for the remainder of the season, combined with the strong offense they can bring, Goderich Seahawks can definitely bring home a Tier One WOBA Championship by the end of the season.  Keep up the hard work and the results will come.

Go Seahawks!
