May 26 @ Exeter
On Monday May 26, Goderich Black Seahawks travelled to Exeter to start their first season of Tier One Major Rookie Baseball.  With none of the players on Goderich having any experience playing baseball at this level before, everyone was anxious to get started.  Goderich came out strong and had a 4-2 lead after the first and 8-2 after the second.

From that point on Exeter took control of the pace scoring three in the third to make it 8-5 Goderich, then blowing it open in the fourth scoring the maximum seven allowed runs ending the fourth leading 12-9.  After a very shaky defensive fourth inning Goderich was able to close the door in the fifth and keep the score at 12-9.  Goderich would score one more in the sixth, but it wouldn't be enough as Exeter was able to push four more across the plate for extra insurance for the 16-10 win.

The offense for our Seahawks came from Owen S with two doubles, two singles, two runs scored and three rbi.  Kaelan and Aaron each had a double, two singles and a run.  Iain had two singles and scored twice, while Graham and Owen D each had two singles with an rbi.  Ty added in two singles, but was unable to score.  Mitchell had a double with a run and an rbi, while Kael had a double with a run scored.  Zach had a single with two rbi and Kellen added in a double as well.  Camron had a single with two runs scored and two rbi and John added a single to round out the offense.

The Goderich coaches are very proud of how the beginning to the season went with some great plays in the field and some really strong hitting.  Now it's time for the team to build on this and go forward into the season while having fun and learning game by game.  Great work Seahawks.

GO SEAHAWKS!!
