L'il Deckhand Seahawks Sting Sebringville
On June 29th, the U12 Squirt girls fastball team finally had some good weather to get out to Ag Park to continue their trip through the Huron Perth Fastball League

The Sebringville Sting, fresh off a huge win over Mitchell, faced a Seahawks squad who were coming off of a tough road loss in Lieury. Megan K. was given the start for her first mound duty of the season. Anchored by the solid backstopping of Jordyn H. and Katie R., Megan tossed a gem over 5 innings allowing only 2 hits while striking out 7 Sting hitters. The first inning and a half saw the locals come out flat as they fell behind 4-0. After having a chance to re-focus, the home side scored 5 runs to take the lead for good on some great work by Jillian H., Kate J., and, Jamie A.
With the Seahawks clinging to a tenuous 7-5 lead in the fifth inning, Payton S. snagged a fly ball at third base, and, began an improbable 5-3-5 triple play immediately stopping a bases loaded Sting uprising. The bottom half of the inning saw some great at bats by Emily H., under ager Audrey C.,and, Blyth's own Janelle D. helping to build a 12-5 cushion.
Zoe M. was then given the ball for her first mound appearance of the season, and, promptly shut down the Sebringville hitters with a noticeable effort, sending the packed bleachers to the Square for ice cream (or hot chocolate) with a nice 12-6 victory. Said Coach Lamb in a post game interview, "Megan battled hard all game, and, Zoe came in and shut the door."
The L'il Deckhands begin a very difficult stretch of their season with five games in ten days beginning next week. Be sure to mark July 19th on your calendars as the Squirts will be hosting a Sunday evening doubleheader beginning at 5:00pm versus Shakespeare and Lieury.
