U16 Bantam Girls Busy In Early June
The Culbert Surveying Girls Fastball Club have had an extremely busy schedule this past week, and a half as they sandwiched the Mitchell FastballFest Tournament in between four H.P.F.L. regular season games.

SEAHAWKS 12 VS. INNERKIP 2
On Friday, May 31st, the Lady Seahawks opened the tournament with a 12 - 2 mercy victory over  the Innerkip Jr. Eagles behind a solid team effort. Goderich starter, Payton S, was impressive in this one fanning 8, scattering 4 hits, and walking none. Goderich countered the only two runs by Innerkip in the bottom of the first as Grace T, Katie R, and Zoe M all crossed the plate. The big blow in this game came in the bottom of the third with none out, and the bases loaded as Kate J absolutely crushed a grand slam to deep left centre field extending the lead to 11 - 2.
The Saturday games saw the Seahawks squander two excellent pitching performances by Alexa H and Payton S as the usually sure handed Seahawks committed an unprecedented nine errors over the two ball games that day during round robin play. The locals added to their woes by making numerous base running mistakes throughout the day which made things even more challenging for them.
LISTOWEL 7 VS, SEAHAWKS 5
Bella M had a solid game at the plate in this one going 2 for 2. Ava F also contributed at the plate with a hit, and a walk. Alexa H was very good on the mound for the locals as she, and her Listowel counterpart locked into a good duel through the first three innings. The bottom half of the fourth saw the Seahawk wheels fall off as they made a couple of errors contributing to a Listowel six run (4 unearned) inning. Goderich answered with a run in the top of the fifth, and had the bases loaded with only one out, but couldn't push any more across. The Seahawks kept plugging away, but ultimately could not quite overcome this deficit.
ST. MARYS 8 VS. SEAHAWKS 3
Payton S was back on the hill versus their Stone Town opponents. Like Alexa H in the first contest, Payton S deserved a better fate in this one giving up 8 runs with only 2 being earned. Down 3 - 0 early, the Seahawks scored a pair when Emily H, and Jamie A were plated by a Zoe M RBI single. Once again, Goderich didn't help themselves as they made too many mistakes versus another quality opponent. This game took an unsportsmanlike turn late in the game when Janelle D was shoved to the ground on two consecutive plays by the St. Marys first baseman which sparked some complaints (and verbal chatter) by the Goderich bench staff. With their pool play completed, the Seahawks managed to grab the 4th (and final) Semi final berth setting up a Sunday morning re - match with the top seeded St. Marys.
SEAHAWKS 7 VS. ST. MARYS 3
The Seahawks opened the scoring when Bella M crossed the plate. St. Marys tied the game immediately with an unearned run off of starter Alexa H. After the Seahawks failed to take advantage of a bases loaded situation, Alexa H sandwiched 3 strikeouts around 2 runs as the Culbert Crew found themselves down 3 - 1. In the top half of the third, Kate J delivered a two run single to tie the game. Alexa H battled hard the rest of the way not allowing another St. Marys run to score. In the fourth, Janelle D, Ava F, Katie R, and Grace T all touched home courtesy of RBIs from Jamie and Abby A sending the Seahawks to the Championship game versus Listowel.
LISTOWEL 9 VS. SEAHAWKS 4
The final saw Grace T open the scoring on a Katie R RBI single. Jaimy L then delivered an RBI single giving the Seahawks an early 2 - 0 lead. However, Listowel used their bats to counter with four of their own off starter Payton S. Zoe M drove home both Emily H and Janelle D to square the affair, but Listowel re-gained their two run cushion at 6-4 in the bottom half of the second. This game stayed the same for the next few innings as the locals missed a few opportunities to tie the game up once again. In the last of the fifth, Goderich finally showed a couple of cracks in their armour giving up three runs which they could never quite recover from versus a well coached solid Listowel ball club.

SEAHAWKS 21 VS. INGERSOLL 6
On Tuesday, June 4th the Seahawks were back in Huron Perth Fastball League action at John OèKeefe Field hosting the Ironbirds from Ingersoll. Alexa H started for Goderich throwing two hit ball over her five innings of work as the Seahawks routed the visitors handily. The Culbert Crew belted out 17 hits in this contest with notable performances going to Jamie A ( 3 for 3). Abby A, and Janelle D both delivered three RBIs apiece to help their team in this game.

SEAHAWKS 18 VS. SEBRINGVILLE 3
Two nights later, the locals were on the diamond again as they travelled to Sebringville for an 8:30 pm start. The Seahawks were without four regulars in the lineup for this one meaning a lot of playing time for each player, and this group didn't disappoint jumping out to an early 3-1 advantage. Starting pitcher, Payton S showed a little rust early in this game, but nicely settled in after the first to not allow another Sting hit. Grace T, and Emily H were electrifying at the top of the Seahawk batting order scoring four runs each in the game. Seahawk U14 call up, Caleigh D, had a stellar game contributing 2 hits, 2 RBIs, and a solid inning of work on the mound to close out the game for the Seahawks.

The Surveyors will practice early next week prior to a mid-week H.P.F.L. road test in Dorchester versus a Diamondbacks club that are much better than their early record shows. The Seahawks will then compete in the Exeter Extreme Tournament over the Fathers Day weekend
