CULBERT SURVEYING U16 GIRLS SCORING & SOARING
The 2019 U16 Bantam Girl Seahawks Fastball team have really set the bar high this season in the competitive Huron Perth Fastball League (H.P.F.L.) with an impressive 7-0-1 record to sit atop the league standings. You may want to pencil in your calendars the date of July 9th as St. Marys will pay a visit to face the Culbert Crew at the new Babbister Park for a 6:45 pm clash of undefeated ball clubs. The Surveyors know they still have plenty of work to do, but their recent string of three consecutive lopsided victories following their Gold Medal in the Exeter Tournament sure create a ton of optimism.

JUNE 19TH: SEAHAWKS 21 @ STRATFORD 1
The locals doused the Flames early, and often in this game under the lights in the Festival City scoring five in the first, and seven in the second in building a 12-1 lead. Janelle D, Bella M, Abby A, Kate J, and Katie R all touched home to set the tone early. Goderich starter, Payton S was her usual self on the mound only giving up an unearned run on 1 hit in her 3 innings of work.
Jamie A led off the second with a towering double. Bella M then promptly stroked a single up the middle scoring Jamie A. Zoe M then collected her second consecutive unselfish 4-3 RBI right side ground out prompting high fives from the bench staff. Emily H was driven home by Payton S which was immediately followed by Jamie A knocking in both Grace T and Payton S for the bat-around inning. Grace T and Katie R both collected 5 RBIs in this game. Janelle D came into the game in relief of Payton S for an impressive scoreless inning of work.

JUNE 24TH: SEAHAWKS 20 @ LONDESBOROUGH 4
The Surveyors jumped out to an early lead once again in this contest versus a Legends club that has been struggling with pitching consistency. The Seahawks were fortunate in this one as they were showing all of the signs of End of school/Exams distractions as their game was not crisp right from the warm up. Their bats, base running, and a usual solid start from Alexa H was enough to power them through on this night however. Alexa H fanned 5 in only giving up 2 hits, but it was the 4 errors the Seahawks made that caused some concern on the Goderich bench.
Ava F was solid in this game collecting a pair of hits, and crossing the plate three times. Bella M continued a breakout year at the plate with four RBIs. Janelle D had a 2 for 3 evening at the plate, and capped off a great performance with two solid innings of relief pitching.

JUNE 25TH: SEAHAWKS 13 VS. EXETER 3
The following evening, the Seahawks were down three starters, but gained the return of the defensively versatile Jaimy L back into their line up. Jaimy L did not disappoint with her solid play in this game versus a good young Extremes ball club that was definitely good enough to take advantage of these high flying Seahawks if they were unfocused. Goderich sent Payton S to the mound for this game, and the righty had another strong outing scattering four hits over six innings, striking out nine Exeter hitters, and not issuing a single walk.
Down 2-0 in the home half of the first, Janelle D, Zoe M, and Alexa H all benefitted from a Katie R double to left centre. With Goderich clinging to a 3-2 lead, Alexa H led off the third with a single followed by back to back triples by Bella M and Katie R giving Payton S some breathing room. The Culbert Crew nailed this game down in the final two innings scoring eight runs to secure the win. The biggest blow of the game was a Grace T two run bomb to deep left field sending the capacity crowd of 28 into a frenzy.
The U16s have a bit of a break in H.P.F.L. play, but have two exhibition games to kick off the first week of July as they will host Londesborough on the 2nd at O'Keefe Field before travelling to Listowel the next night.
Come on out to the O'Keefe on the 2nd, and cheer this exciting team on. Admission is free, but good seating is limited.
