IN A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN
On Thursday, July 10th, the players of the U12 Squirt L’il Deckhands were summoned by the Coaching Staff to the Huron County Museum for a surprise special Team event evening. The U12’s, ever eager for more practice, showed up for their night at the museum with ball gloves in hand not knowing what to expect. Coaches Niki Kovats and Rhonda Hodges did a masterful job of keeping the Squirts guessing as to what was in store for the evening.

Waiting for the players was an evening watching the film “A League Of Their Own” complete with pizza, popcorn, and snacks. The Squirt team has been busy slugging it out this season in the Tri County League as the only all girls team in the league. The players and parents had some good laughs during the evening watching “Big Dottie Hinson” keeping Jimmy Dugan in line for most of the film.

Prior to the movie, Coach Dan Ridsdale handed out the prestigious Skittles Award to young gun Jamie Archambault for the teams’ first slide of the season on July 7th versus Crediton.

The Coaching Staff would like to thank Claire and the Staff at the Huron County Museum for providing a great evening of entertainment. A final big thanks goes out to Joanne Kernighan for the inspiration for the evening.
