U12 SQUIRT HOSTING TRI COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIPS
Submitted By ryoung on Thursday, August 7, 2014
The Goderich Squirt Fastball Team will have an opportunity to show their energy and skill at home this weekend as Ag Park will be the venue to decide U12 supremacy in the Tri County Fastball League with action beginning Friday, August 8th, and, finishing late Saturday, August 9th with the “A” and “B” Championship games.

The locals, the only all female team participating in the predominantly male Tri County, had a fantastic sophomore season finishing in 5th place with a 5-7 record with 3 of those losses in 1 run ball games. The youngest team in the league, the L’il Deckhand Seahawks begin play on Friday night under the lights where they play the 4th seed from Ethel. In regular season play, Goderich escaped with a hard fought 8-6 victory in their only meeting promising for a great match up in the opening round of this tournament. The other “play in” games taking place on Friday night will see the #7 seed from Crediton attempt to pull off the upset versus a strong #2 seed from Lucknow, while the very much improved #6 seeded Benmiller will battle the #3 seed from Londesborough at 6:30 pm.

The winners from the Friday night games will earn a spot in Pool A on Saturday with the undefeated regular season champs from Seaforth. The non victorious from the play in round will battle for the B Pool on Saturday.

With the temperatures expected to soar, the hosts will have plenty of hot dogs, freezies, ice cold water, and, candy cups to tempt your taste buds when you come to the park to cheer on these young fastball players from Goderich and surrounding areas.

GO SEAHAWKS!!!
