Major Rookie Grey, 2013 (Goderich Minor Baseball)

For three days in August Goderich Grey Seahawks were involved in their WOBA Championship.  The weekend was filled with ups and downs from beginning to end, great plays defensively and timely hitting.  The team was by far one of the loudest teams at the tournament and showed the most passion and heart of all the teams, even causing one team to complain about how loud they were cheering.  This passion showed as they battled game by game right to the championship where they met a strong Mitchell team.  Every game had excitement, with three of their games decided by one run, one decided by two ...

On Monday July 29, Goderich Grey Seahawks travelled to Exeter.  Goderich had a steady offensive pace to the game scoring in all but one inning, while Exeter was able to capitalize on a very shaky first inning defensively for Goderich where they were able to score the maximum seven runs.  Goderich stepped their defense up in the final four inning of the game and were able to hold Exeter to only one more run thanks to some very incredible plays including a double play turned by the shortstop to first.  Heading into the final inning, Goderich found themselves down three runs.

On Thursday July 25, Goderich Grey Seahawks hosted Mitchell 1.  Goderich had a steady offensive pace to the game scoring in all but one inning, while Mitchell relied on one major inning where they were able to score the maximum seven runs.  Heading into the home half of the final inning, Goderich was down two runs setting up the potential for an exciting finish...And exciting it was, Goderich was able to push across the two runs to tie the game and had runners on first and second with their lead-off hitter up and two out, however the defense was able to make a good play to end the game with a ...

On Friday July 19, Goderich Grey Seahawks travelled to Grand Bend.  After being shut down in the first inning, Goderich had their bats come alive the next two innings, but still found themselves down 13-10 after three innings.  Unfortunately for the visiting Seahawks team, there was a very controversial ending to the game which forced the teams to end the game with the 13-10 score standing as the final. 

On Thursday July 18, Goderich Grey Seahawks hosted Parkhill.  For the second straight game the Seahawks played one of their best all around games of the year against a very strong opponent.  In the final inning of play Parkhill was able to add two runs to add to their lead and make it a four run game going into the bottom of the inning.  Down four runs, Goderich came to the plate with their bats swinging furiously and hit numerous doubles and singles to bring five runs across the plate to complete a very exciting comeback for the home crowd to witness a 12-11 Goderich win.
